Precision castings engineered for diverse industrial sectors

Since 1992 Sri Gnanamurugan Foundry has supplied grey iron and ductile iron castings to OEM manufacturers and engineering companies across India and in export markets. Castings range from 0.5 kg to 650 kg per piece, produced at around 200 tonnes per month under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system.

Because the same melting, moulding and inspection facilities serve every sector, a customer moving from a prototype casting to regular production keeps the same process controls and the same test regime throughout.

    Sectors

    Where Our Castings Are Used

Typical components we manufacture for each industry, and the material normally specified.

    Automotive & Transport

    Grey iron and ductile iron

Flywheel pulleys, housings, brackets, covers and casings for vehicle and engine assemblies. Grey iron is specified where vibration damping and thermal conductivity matter; ductile iron is used where a component carries higher stress or shock loading.

    • Flywheel pulleys
    • Housings & casings
    • Brackets and mounts
    • Covers and end plates

    Pumps & Fluid Handling

    Grey iron and ductile iron

Pump casings, impellers, bearing housings and cover plates. Coimbatore is one of India's largest pump manufacturing centres, and pump castings have been a core part of our output since the foundry was established.

    • Pump casings
    • Impellers
    • Bearing housings
    • Valve and cover bodies

    Textile Machinery

    Grey iron

Power loom frame castings, machine bed plates and structural components. Grey iron is the standard choice here because its graphite structure damps machine vibration and holds dimensional stability under continuous running.

    • Power loom frames
    • Machine bed plates
    • Structural frames
    • Drive housings

    Agriculture

    Grey iron and ductile iron

Tractor and implement components, gearbox and transmission housings, and tillage equipment parts built to survive rough field service, shock loading and abrasive conditions.

    • Tractor components
    • Gearbox housings
    • Implement fittings
    • Tillage parts

    Construction & Earthmoving

    Ductile iron and grey iron

Heavy machinery components, counterweights, machine bases and hydraulic housings. This is where our upper weight range is used most, with castings in this sector routinely running to several hundred kilograms per piece.

    • Machinery bases
    • Counterweights
    • Hydraulic housings
    • Structural components

    Mining & Crushing

    Grey iron and ductile iron

Crusher plant castings and heavy components for mineral processing equipment, where parts must tolerate continuous abrasive duty and repeated impact loading.

    • Crusher plant castings
    • Housings and frames
    • Heavy structural parts

    General Engineering

    Grey iron and ductile iron

Machine tool bases, gearbox and compressor bodies, flywheels and bespoke components manufactured to customer drawings for a wide range of industrial equipment builders.

    • Machine tool bases
    • Gearbox bodies
    • Flywheels
    • Custom components
    Material Selection

    Grey Iron or Ductile Iron?

A short guide to which material usually suits which application.

    Choose grey iron when

    • The part must damp vibration, as in machine beds, frames and housings
    • Good machinability matters for downstream operations
    • Thermal conductivity is useful, as in engine and brake components
    • Loading is largely compressive rather than impact or tensile
    Grey Iron Castings

    Choose ductile iron when

    • The component carries tensile or shock loading
    • Higher strength and elongation are specified
    • Impact resistance matters, as in field or mobile equipment
    • A part would otherwise be made in cast or fabricated steel
    Ductile Iron Castings

    FAQ

    Frequently Asked Questions

Which industries does Sri Gnanamurugan Foundry supply?

The foundry supplies grey iron and ductile iron castings to the automotive, pump and fluid handling, textile machinery, agriculture, construction and earthmoving, mining and crushing, and general engineering sectors, serving customers in India and export markets.

Should I specify grey iron or ductile iron for my component?

Grey iron is usually chosen where vibration damping, machinability and thermal conductivity matter and loading is mainly compressive, such as machine beds, frames and housings. Ductile iron is chosen where the part carries tensile or shock loading and higher strength and elongation are required. Send the drawing and the service conditions and we can advise.

Do you manufacture castings for pump manufacturers?

Yes. Pump casings, impellers, bearing housings and cover bodies are a core part of our production. Coimbatore is one of India's largest pump manufacturing centres and pump castings have been part of our output since the foundry was established in 1992.

Can you handle heavy castings for construction and mining equipment?

Yes. Castings are produced up to 650 kg per piece, which covers machinery bases, counterweights, hydraulic housings and crusher plant components. Heavy sections are moulded on our ARPA 1300 line.

Do you supply castings to customers outside India?

Yes. The foundry supplies OEM manufacturers and engineering companies internationally, with castings produced under an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality system and inspected chemically, mechanically and dimensionally before dispatch.
